I teach every academic year two courses: Introduction to Political Science (POLPOP02) and the political science Master’s Thesis Seminar (POLVOS99). In addition, I teach every year at least one optional course that is linked to my current research. In fall 2020 the courses were “Johdatus Euroopan unioniin” (an introduction to the EU) and ”Lukupiiri: Cultural Backlash: Trump, Brexit, and Authoritarian Populism”. In academic year 2020-2021 I also teach the introductory course on the EU at the University of Helsinki. I find the introductory courses on political science and the EU both challenging and rewarding to teach, as they involve a lot of preparatory work and the objective is to motivate students to acquire more in-depth knowledge of politics and various political systems.
At the doctoral level I am in charge of the political science research seminar and currently supervise around 10-15 PhD students. Please get in touch if you are interested in pursuing political science doctoral studies in Tampere.
During the academic years 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 I was chosen by our students as the best teacher in our Degree Programme in Politics, and in 2018-2019 I was honoured to receive the same award at the faculty level.
